Today, Garrett, Brooke, and I learned about traditional Thai massage, acupuncture, reflexology, and herbs. We drank another detoxifying tea, but this one was blue this time.
We helped cook dinner again today:
We practiced giving each other head massages to relieve hypertension. The nurse who was teaching us demonstrated how to relieve lower back pain using pressure points between the vertebrae.
During lunch, P'Mick and P'Aor came to visit us! We also got a schedule of where we're going to be rotating for the next few weeks.
Brooke and I were in the ER for the afternoon. It was surprisingly not busy, but of the nurses said it typically is packed at night because of car accidents, gun shot wounds, suicide attempts, and drinking. We saw a number of patients with abrasions and many with septic shock.
They had to intubate one lady who had low blood pressure due to an infection and they took samples of her blood as well.
There were a number of patients coming in with eye injuries who were wearing sun glasses, as well as many who were being observed after the doctors administered various drugs.
One of the doctors told us working in the ER is challenging because of the wide variety of patients they treat both age and symptom wise.
