Nicole's Sunday with her Host Family

Today, we met our host siblings and went to three temples in Ayuthaya.
At each, we had a single yellow candle, 3 incense sticks, a lotus bulb, and 3 pieces of paper gold. Our host siblings recited the prayers for us to follow. Apparently putting a piece of gold on your forehead is good luck!
We also threw coins down a chute at the top of one of the temples. Everyone aims for the black rectangular box at the bottom.
One of the traditions is to shake a container of 30 numbered sticks until a single one falls out. You find the corresponding fortune along a wall. If it's bad, you throw it away and try again. Luckily, I got an "excellent" one on the first try since it took me forever to shake one stick out and we didn't have time for me to try again!
The last temple we went to was a bit different. I'll let you see for yourself. We also had AC here, so it was Brooke's favorite!
We ate lunch at this temple and it was crazy to see all the food being cooked on small, bobbing boats.
I also learned that there are Buddhas for each day of the week. I checked a calendar and found out I was born on a Thursday, so this is my Buddha.
We had tom yum soup for dinner, which is apparently number 1 in Thailand!
